Ever since the eighth grade I knew I wanted to do something with writing. When I started Michigan State University in the fall of 2003, I was advised to go for my teaching certificate. This field of work was always something that I kept in the back of my mind, having both a mom and a sister who teach, not to mention my experience working with school age children at an overnight summer camp. It was while I was working one summer at this camp, that I really saw the impact I had on kids. The vision I had about translating this impact I had on kids in the classroom brought me to the realization that teaching was something I saw myself doing for a long time. There is nothing better for me than seeing my students succeed, understand and enjoy learning, especially reading and writing. I strive to teach the literature and the writing process in a way that makes sense and relates to my students.
Like most teachers, I am a huge advocate for student success, which is why I offer tutoring before and after school. Tutoring also includes free MME/ACT help for the students who will be taking the test in March. In my free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
